BLOOD SAVES LIVES!
In honor of Sickle Cell Awareness month in September, The Red Cross of Central-Western Massachusetts has joined forces with the Western Mass Black Nurses Association (WMBNA) and Global Sickle Cell Alliance (GLOSCA) to bring awareness and education to the community about this genetic blood disorder. Both WMBNA and GLOSCA have a rich tradition of engaging with the community, educating individuals, and raising awareness about sickle cell disease and the critical need for blood donations.
By collaborating with these organizations, the Central-Western MA Red Cross is able to provide valuable information on the importance of blood donations, especially for those living with sickle cell disease. Through community events, workshops, and outreach programs, we are able to dispel myths and misconceptions surrounding the disease, while also encouraging individuals to donate blood to help those in need.
This partnership allows for a more united effort in spreading awareness and ultimately improving the quality of life for those affected by sickle cell disease.
