Donating blood saves lives. Every two seconds of every day, someone needs blood. Since blood can’t be manufactured outside the body and also has a limited shelf life, the supply must constantly be replenished. We can play a vital role in helping people in our communities by donating. 37% of the population is eligible to donate blood, yet only 5% actually do. A common misunderstanding is that accident victims are the patients who use the most blood. But in fact, people needing the most help include those being treated for cancer, undergoing orthopedic or cardiovascular surgeries, or being treated for inherited blood disorders. With every donation, we can provide hope, strength, and courage to patients in need. For this year’s campaign, we’ve set a goal for 25 WD’ers to pledge to donate blood.
