This campaign is important to me because I have seen how valuable donated blood is through my volunteer work in a hospital setting. I met patients who needed blood transfusions, and as I talked with clinicians, I learned that hospitals regularly struggle with access to proper blood supply. This made me aware of how many patients do not have consistent access to blood when they need it after major surgeries. My experience made donating blood and encouraging other people to donate blood feel more personal. Donating blood is easy and directly benefits patients that rely on blood to survive surgery, treatment, and emergencies. Giving blood takes less than one hour of your time, does not cost anything, and just might be the reason someone receives a second chance.
