When our 23 year old son, Jacob was diagnosed with testicular cancer, which had spread all over his body, the doctors at our local hospital tried valiantly to save him. Part of that effort included strong chemotherapy, which quickly destroyed his kidneys and his immune system. He received life prolonging platelets throughout his treatments and we will be forever grateful to those who donated. Their gift of life gave us more time with our precious son. Since then I have become a donor and I will continue to donate as long as I am able.
