Blood donors who are Black play a critical role in helping people with sickle cell disease, the most common genetic blood disorder in the U.S. Many patients with sickle cell rely on regular blood transfusions, and it is essential that they receive the most compatible matches—often from donors of the same race or similar ethnicity. However, there aren’t enough donors to meet this urgent need.
By donating blood, you can help sickle cell patients, mothers facing complicated childbirths, people fighting cancer, accident victims in emergency rooms, and many more who depend on lifesaving transfusions.
