Modern advances in medicine and the skills of medical practitioners were advanced by the efforts of Dr. Charles Drew, an American Red Cross physician and member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity who was a pioneer the field of blood banking. In honor of Dr. Drew’s ground-breaking and life-saving work, the brothers of Theta Mu Mu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and American Red Cross have partnered to help save lives through the gift of blood donation during the Dr. Charles Drew Memorial Virtual Blood Drive, scheduled from May 18-June 30, 2019.

The goal of the Charles R. Drew Memorial Blood Drive is to raise awareness of the importance of blood donation. Each unit can help save a life. We want to focus on the specific needs, to increase the number of African American donors for Sickle Cell patients, especially children. Our goal to have a large African American blood drive in the state of Maryland is obtainable, but we need your participation! We can only do this by educating our fraternity of the purposes of donating blood, to eradicate the fear of giving and to reinforce the concept that blood donors are essential to the health and safety of the many hospital patients. The life you save may be your own.
