St. Michael Orthodox Church

As we are unable to hold our semi-annual blood drive at St. Michael in July due to the pandemic, we have decided to hold a Sleeves Up Campaign which will be open to all our family and friends, nationwide! The Red Cross is in an Urgent Appeal for blood and this blood drive will be held from Saturday, June 13 through Sunday, August 2, 2020. You may sign up through this link, anywhere in the country at your convenience, and your donation will be counted towards our goal of 100 units! Power Red donors, please look for a Power Red appointment. In the Louisville area there will be blood drives held at the Red Cross Auditorium (510 E. Chestnut St.) on Wednesday, June 17th and June 24th. There will be a Stars, Stripes and Pints Blood Drive at the KFC YUM Center on July 7, 8 and 9 from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

This drive is in honor of my daughter, Amanda Smith Steckel, who will be celebrating 25 years of remission on July 16. When Amanda was 15 1/2 years old, she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic
leukemia. During her chemotherapy, she received 32 units of blood products (27 red units and 5 platelets). Amanda and our family are so thankful there were donors who helped save her life. If you would like to donate toward our St. Michael Blood Drive in her honor, please follow the link to sign up at your local Red Cross donation center.

Thank you. God bless!
