I was asked to join the Blue Tie Tag program that recruited blood donors in the African American community to support people with Sickle Cell Disease. Sickle Cell Disease can be managed with periodic blood transfusions. Blood coming from someone with a similar genetic background may be a better match. You can help make the life of someone with Sickle Cell Disease better by donating blood.
