Blood transfusions are life-saving in many situations, to persons of all ages. This really hit home recently when our 10 year old grand-niece Sydney was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. She was immediately started on chemo and within a few weeks she needed a blood transfusion, then another a week later. Like so many cancer patients on chemo, Sydney will likely need many more blood transfusions before she’s cured of leukemia.
#SleevesUpForSydney is a virtual blood drive in Sydney’s honor. Anyone can donate as long as they are over 110 lbs and at least 17 years old – there’s no upper age limit. It’s possible to donate to this drive from anywhere in the country, which will help assure a supply of blood when needed by Sydney or anyone else. Please consider donating blood, and thank you for your life-saving gift!
