I am putting together a blood drive to aid the community through the winter because the need for blood in the winter months is very prominent, more than any other season. According to the American Cancer Society, more than 1.69 million people are expected to be diagnosed with cancer in 2018. Many of them will need blood, sometimes daily, during their chemotherapy treatment. THIS is one of the many reasons to donate.

Being an active donor of blood and platelets, I find it important to bring the community together to donate – just one unit can save up to 3 lives! Every two seconds someone needs blood! There are so many people eligible to give blood but never do

For this campaign, there is a confirmed blood drive attached, which is scheduled for February 16, 2018 at Marketplace Mall from 2-7pm.

I am a senior at Our Lady of Mercy and this is also a large part of a service project I am involved in. I am hoping to have as many people pledge as possible! Come show your support and give blood!
