Many of you recall the ABC television show ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’ Year of the Hero, Lizzie Bell (2009).
Lizzie Bell was born with a rare marrow failure syndrome that required her body to receive blood transfusions every 2-3 weeks from the time she was 7 weeks old (1994). She talked often about her situation asking others to ‘take a pinch for a kid like me’ and raised so much awareness that she was awarded an American Red Cross Hero medal (2004). Lizzie’s situation became dire and she required a marrow transplant (2018) and by 2020 she no longer required transfusions, she completed high school and college and lives a very healthy life today!
Team Lizzie Bell continues the mission of raising awareness about blood donation and has partnered with others in the country to create THIS national blood drive campaign. We want to feature YOUR school, business, church, scout troop – January is National Blood Donor Month – write me to help YOU spread the word: [email protected].
On Saturday January 20th, we want to have 100 people donate blood anywhere in the country. Together we can make a difference! Use the link with this campaign to sign up and then share the link with others!
