On October 3rd, my world changed when my mom was rushed to the ICU in Chicago, where doctors discovered she was bleeding internally due to a large aneurysm in her abdomen. My mom received two life-saving blood transfusions, a crucial step that kept her with us. She underwent an emergency artery embolism and spent several days in intensive care, showing incredible resilience as she fought through. Now, as she recovers, she’s focusing on getting strong again – with the goal of returning to pickleball to keep kicking my butt!

If you know my mom, you know she’s the most selfless and compassionate person. She tirelessly supports those around her, always putting others first. She has an unwavering love for her family, friends, and community, and it’s inspiring to see the strength she’s shown through this journey.

This experience has reminded me just how essential blood donations are. I haven’t given blood in a while, but now I’m inspired to take action in a way that honors her resilience and gives back. That’s why I’m starting the Show You Kare Blood Drive, a virtual blood drive where you can participate from anywhere. By donating blood, you’ll help ensure that others receive the life-saving care they need – just as my mom did.
