My husband Dave is turning 50 on March 10, 2020. Sadly, we lost his brother Mike two years ago on March 9, 2018. He was 49 years old. While he was in the hospital, Mike had several blood transfusions. In fact, the doctor said on two separate occasions that Mike “wiped out” the entire blood bank at Georgetown Hospital. The total amount of blood he received over the course of his admission was 119 blood products. We promised the medical staff we would give back one day by hosting a blood drive for everything they did for Mike and for our family. Because of the blood he received, we were given more time to laugh, share and create memories that we will cherish forever (thank you Holly & Trent Murphy for helping with the memories)! We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate Dave’s 50th birthday then to honor his late brother Mike by hosting a virtual blood drive. Our hope is that friends and family will help us save lives by donating in Mike’s memory. Our goal is for 119 people to donate as that is the amount of blood product Mike received at Georgetown. We will be forever grateful for donors who helped us and hope we can make a difference for others by hosting this blood drive.
