It’s time to roll up your sleeve for TeamHealth’s nationwide drive beginning April 11 and ending on June 14, World Blood Donor Day. During this time, we encourage each of you to pledge to donate blood and find a donation center near you.
As you may be aware, there is currently a national blood supply crisis, and blood supply has fallen to its lowest levels in more than a decade. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and winter weather affecting much of the country, there has been a 10% decline in the number of people donating blood since the start of the pandemic.
Blood donation is essential in helping cancer patients, trauma patients, organ and bone marrow transplant patients, burn patients and inherited blood disorder patients. Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood and just one donation can save three lives.
We each have the power to be the solution to the blood crisis. Blood can’t be stockpiled or manufactured – it can only be made available through the kindness of volunteer donors, so pledge to roll up your sleeve today.
