Roll Up Your Sleeve in Honor of Steve

Steve Wideen

Every day, blood donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer. In fact, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. See Steve Wideen’s personal story below.

In April Steve was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, AML. It came on fast. He had no symptoms until a month earlier, and then he just thought he had a cold and flu that he just could not get over. After two rounds of chemotherapy, he is in remission. The next step to being cured is a bone marrow stem cell transplant from an anonymous donor, which is currently scheduled to take place on August 6th.

Throughout this process, he has had numerous blood transfusions which without those he would not have made it thus far. Whenever anyone asks Steve what they can do, he says, “Give blood, it saved my life”!

In support of Steve and all he has endured over these four months; we have set up a virtual blood drive and encourage you to “Roll up your sleeve in honor of Steve” and pledge to donate blood today!
