One blood donation can help save up to three lives. That means a lot to patients in need, but it took on a new meaning recently.
Without volunteer blood donors, Mark’s story might have had a different ending. After sustaining severe injuries in a motor vehicle accident in June 2016, Mark received 27 units of packed red blood cells, and numerous units of fresh frozen plasma, platelets, and other blood products that literally saved his life. It is a miracle that he was so near a facility in Joplin, Missouri where local donors insured an ample supply. Since that time he has required additional transfusions to keep his blood levels at an acceptable level. So many of you have asked what you can do and how you can help, and Mark would be honored if you could donate in his name to pay if forward for those who will need blood next. Please sign up to pledge your donation and you will be able to find a center where you can donate across the US. Like those who donated selflessly, unaware of how their gift would change Mark’s world, your donation will pay it forward to some other in need. 7 seems to be a divine number so we want to pay it forward with 217 donations for the 31 units he has used to date.
