This campaign is in honor of my dad, Chuck, whose story we hope will inspire others to donate blood and help patients in need.
After getting clean from narcotics in 1989, my dad began donating blood as a way to make a positive difference in the world. What started as a single donation became a lifelong commitment to helping others. Over the years, he has donated more than 20 gallons of blood, helping save countless lives.
In July of 2023, he continued that commitment by becoming a Blood Service Volunteer with the American Red Cross, delivering lifesaving blood products from collection sites to hospitals where patients urgently need them.
Right now, my dad is in the fight of his life as he undergoes chemotherapy for cancer. Because of his treatment, he can’t donate blood himself for the first time in decades. His next donation had been scheduled for March 20, so we’re launching this virtual blood drive on that day in his honor. The campaign will run through his birthday, May 19.
On his Facebook page, Pacecar Chuck’s Race to the Bell, we follow his journey as he races toward the finish line of treatment. This blood drive is a way for all of us to join Chuck’s pit crew. While he can’t donate right now, we can race in his place by rolling up our sleeves and helping save lives. If you are able, please consider scheduling a blood donation during this campaign.
Join Chuck’s pit crew. Donate blood. Save a life.
