Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. For people with cancer, trauma patients, premature babies, sickle cell patients and countless others, it can be a matter of life or death if there is not enough blood on the shelves. The American Red Cross helps meet the constant demand for blood by providing about 40% of the nation’s blood supply— more than any other blood bank in the U.S. The need for blood is constant. However, only 3% of eligible people donate blood annually. To ensure the Red Cross has enough donors so that blood is ready before it is needed, they need YOU.
