The North County San Diego Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., invites you to support our virtual Sleeves Up blood donation campaign, Hearts That Give, in partnership with the American Red Cross.
This campaign is dedicated to supporting individuals living with sickle cell anemia, a painful and life-threatening blood disorder that disproportionately impacts the African American community.
Blood transfusions are critical for managing this disease, but the need for ethnically matched blood donors is urgent and ongoing. By donating blood, you’re giving hope, strength, and life to sickle cell warriors—especially children and young adults who rely on regular transfusions to stay healthy.
Why Your Support Matters:
• Sickle cell affects 1 in 365 African American births.
• Patients may need up to 100 pints of blood per year.
• Diverse donors improve compatibility, reducing complications and improving outcomes.
How to Take Action:
We’re asking our community to pledge and donate by May 31, 2025.
1. Pledge to donate blood in honor of sickle cell warriors.
2. Schedule an appointment at your local blood donation center.
3. Spread the word by sharing our campaign on social media using #HeartsThatGive #SleevesUp4SickleCell #SickleCell, #BlackBloodDonorsNeeded, #InOurBlood, #ShowLoveGiveBlood, #GiveBloodSaveLives, #JJOA, #NCSDJackandJill
Every pint of blood you give is a chance for someone to live without pain, to play without fear, and to grow with hope. Let’s stand together as a village. Roll up your sleeves. Donate by May 31. And let’s show the power of hearts that give.
