The Buchheit retail stores have been dedicating the month of October to cancer fighters since 2015. The Buchheit family has witnessed many of its family and team members “fight the beast”, a phrase used by Buchheit, Inc. CEO, Tim Buchheit. They want to ensure that No One Fights Alone.

Meet Ella, she is the granddaughter of Kenny & Rhonda Buchheit of the Buchheit Family of Companies. Ella was diagnosed with kidney cancer at the age of 4. She needed 48 units of platelets and 5 red blood cell transfusions during her 9 months of treatment.

They learned first-hand that chemo treatments attack the fast-growing cancer cells and also affects the fast-growing cells that make blood. Without strong blood counts, the essential chemo treatments could be delayed. That delay directly affects the health of the patient and their prognosis.

“Data from one research study that these doctors were working that spring directly affected our daughter’s treatment plan,” said Kate Buchheit Kabe, Ella’s mother. “Our daughter’s initial chemo treatment plan was altered in May, by these physicians, because of the results of research they were involved with and improved our daughter’s prognosis by 10%. One year ago, her treatment course/prognosis would have been very different.”

The Buchheit Family of Company’s goal this October is to get 500 donors to give blood and raise $20,000 for cancer research and outreach in the local communities they serve.

Besides donating blood, giving to research is the best gift to give anyone fighting cancer. Visit buchheits.com/nofa to make a monetary donation. Your donations will directly affect the lives of cancer fighters.
