We want to spread awareness about the importance of blood donation, especially relating to healthcare disparities.
According to the Red Cross, “The need is real. More blood donors from minority groups are needed to diversify the blood supply and help treat minority related diseases.” Blood donation relates to health disparities because it shows how access individuals in underserved or marginalized communities may have limited access to medical care, including blood donation facilities. In addition, disparities in health literacy affects awareness and understanding of the importance of blood donation. Cultural and religious beliefs can also influence people’s willingness to donate blood.
