For my senior exit project I am hosting a blood drive in order to promote awareness of those in need. For any sort of medical surgery, whether that be a car accident, home fire, or organ transplant, blood is needed. Thus, a blood transfusion is needed every three seconds. Without it, we would not be able to have surgeries in the first place. However, not everyone has access to blood due to a lack of donors. I want to show how easy donating is as well as give others the opportunity to save lives through a small donation of their time. I personally have donated many times and it was always a good experience. Thank you to everyone who pledges and I hope you will all continue to donate.
Do not forget to eat and drink healthy the day before and morning of the drive. The Red Cross does an iron check prior to you donating. To ensure you are not rejected, I would suggest a protein-rich breakfast.
Once you have pledged a page should pop up giving a list of blood centers, if one doesn’t, enter in your zip code on the page and one should. Then, click on whichever blood center you want to donate at. I personally will be donating at the North Carolina Huntersville Center. Look for the date you will be donating, then click which time you want to give. Remember, the dates for this drive are between March 9th and March 17th so you might have to scroll down a bit. Also, with these dates you will get a free Game of Thrones T-shirt and you will be entered into a lottery for the next season’s grand premier viewing. Once you have decided on a time you now have three options. You can opt to give blood, power red, or platelets. All are fine, however, if this is your first time donating I would suggest just regular blood. Once you have decided these three things, click the button for what you want to donate with your date and time, click confirm, and you will be all set up. Thanks!
On the front page of this campaign click pledge to give blood. Enter in your basic information. For the zip code go ahead and enter in your own zip code so that it will search for blood centers closest to you. Once you have entered everything in, confirm it. It’s that simple. Look at my next update for what to do next.
Hi, I’m Alex. For my Senior Exit Project I am hosting a virtual blood drive, allowing for anyone to donate no matter where they might be. If you have a busy schedule do not worry, just find a time that will fit you at any of your local Red Cross donation centers. If you need help with this please let me know so that I can help you set up you donation time as well as answer any of your questions. In the following update I will be giving a step-by-step guide on how you can donate once you have pledged.
