In January 2025, Lindsey nearly died during childbirth due to a rare and undetected complication called placenta accreta that caused a catastrophic hemorrhage. She lost 5.5 liters of blood—more than the total volume in the average human body—and required a massive transfusion and emergency hysterectomy to save her life. Thanks to a skilled medical team and a ready supply of donated blood, Lindsey survived.
To honor those who made her survival possible and to help save future lives, Lindsey is launching Life After Birth: A Blood Donation Campaign in partnership with the American Red Cross. The campaign encourages people to donate blood in honor of those who have faced life-threatening childbirth complications, and especially to help rebuild the blood bank that saved her.
“We often underestimate the risks women take to bring new life into the world,” Lindsey said. “Childbirth can be dangerous, and I’m here today because of the blood donors and the incredible medical team who acted quickly to save me. I’m forever grateful—and now I want to help ensure that life-saving blood is there for the next person who needs it.”
Blood donation is always urgently needed, and each donation can help save up to three lives. Lindsey’s goal is to inspire at least 11 people to commit to donating blood in her honor—whether at a local blood drive, Red Cross center, or donation event.
