Hello! My name is Krista and I am a mom to a 1.5 year old son. A few months ago I was rushed to the hospital where the  doctors determined I had an ectopic pregnancy. Unfortunately, the pregnancy was in my Fallopian tube and it had ruptured which caused life threatening blood loss. I needed an emergency surgery and a massive blood transfusion to save my life. I ended up receiving 11 blood transfusions that night. Multiple nurses told me it was a miracle I made it.

The reason I’m sharing this is because when I was in the ICU on Thanksgiving day, I couldn’t help but think of every single one of the anonymous blood donors who saved my life. Each one of them gave me the opportunity to continue to be a mommy to my baby and to go home to my loving husband and family. I was so incredibly lucky that blood was available to me, especially since there is currently a national blood shortage.

To pay it forward, I am hosting a virtual blood drive now through the end of April. My hope is to encourage as many people as I can to help save lives.
