You have been invited to give the gift of life in memory of Kathy Garcia. 3 years ago, Kathy’s heart could no longer function on its own so she underwent surgery to have a heart pump known as an LVAD installed. This allowed her heart to work for another year. Then it was time for a heart transplant. Prayers were answered and she received another heart. The heart was strong and gave us all hope. However, because of complications during surgery as well as infections, healing was a battle for Kathy for about another year. She was so grateful to the donor family and to all those who helped her. Kathy often talked about donating blood and her time to help others in the same way that she was helped. Then last June, God called Kathy home. For those of you who knew Kathy, you know that her love, her laugh, and her caring nature were a gift to us all. Her birthday is in May. As a birthday gift to her in heaven, let’s donate blood in her honor during the month of May. If you are unable to donate blood, please consider donating financially to the Red Cross. Make and keep an appointment to give blood to the American Red Cross during May.
