This year has been quite the year for me and my family with the arrival of our son! But with that joy came difficulty with my having to receive two blood transfusions and my son receiving two platelet transfusions. We were so lucky that these resources were available to the two of us in order to get healthy again and enjoy our time together. After that we thought our experience with blood transfusions would be over. But, the week of Christmas my father was diagnosed with cancer and underwent surgery which caused an internal bleed. He, too, required multiple blood transfusions. Because we both received blood this year we are unable to donate. That is why on my birthday I am asking YOU to donate!
