I’ve had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people on my visits to the Red Cross donating blood. I came to donate blood in honor of “Mother’s Day” and I met a wonderful phlebotomist named Lorraine who took such great care with me. Lorraine told me the reason she does what she does, is because of an amazing teacher she had at the age of 6, who helped her when she didn’t speak English. Lorraine learned so much compassion from that teacher and knew from an early age she wanted to take care of others. A few years later, Lorraine went back to see that teacher to let her know how grateful she was for the kindness and patients she had shown Lorraine while teaching her. Lorraine has been with the Red Cross for over 11 years and as she humbly told me how proud she is of her 30-year-old son who is studying to become a nurse. Thank you, Lorraine, for all you do making our visits to the Red Cross so easy.
