As medical students we took an oath to put others before ourselves, to commit to lifelong learning, and to help those in need.
From this, the HUCM Class of 2026 Community Service Committee plans to host an event every month to spread awareness on a specific medical condition. September is National Sickle Cell Awareness month, which brought us to the American Red Cross. Per the CDC, approximately 100,000 Americans are affected with Sickle Cell Disease, with 1/13 African Americans children are born with the Sickle Cell Trait. Our goal is to have 75 people donate blood under this drive in order to spread awareness on this disease.
Please assist the Class of 2026 in donating the time to give a life saving resource to those who need it most.
