"How ‘Bout A Half?" – A half liter of blood, that is, in memory of Young Brian!

Young Brian
42 /100

As we approach what would have been Brian’s 52nd Birthday on October 17th, we have been reflecting on a way to honor his memory in some positive way. During his illness, he received a multitude of blood transfusions and so felt that a powerful display of remembrance would be a blood drive with the American Red Cross in his honor. There is such a tremendous need at this time. Each unit of blood donated is "1/2" a liter. Due to COVID, this has become challenging to establish an in-person drive; however, we are able to do a Virtual Drive where people can "Pledge" to donate blood in Brian’s memory. This is not a financial pledge. It is a pledge to donate a unit of blood.  It can be at any location, in any region of the state or country.

Go to www.redcrossblood.org and enter your Zip Code to identify locations near you and check on availability in your area. For those of us in the Kennebunk/Kennebunkport area, there is one scheduled at St. Martha’s Church on Rte 1 before Post Office on Oct 20th in the afternoon. ALL Donations must be scheduled in advance. There is not a walk in ability. With all blood donations, donors will be tested for COVID antibodies (identifies if you have HAD COVID) as well as being entered to win a $1000 Gift Card from Amazon from the American Red Cross.

Thank you, Steve and Donna
