In early August, our wonderful neighbors Steve and Brandi Jansen received devastating news that their 3-year-old daughter Wren had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Following the diagnosis, Wren and her family spent time at Levine Children’s Hospital courageously battling this terrible disease. She is now at home but still faces a long journey ahead that will include a series of blood transfusions crucial to her recovery.

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. It’s estimated that more than 1.68 million people are expected to be diagnosed with cancer in 2016. Many of them will need blood, sometimes daily, during their chemotherapy treatment. Donating blood is a simple process, but it can make a tremendous difference in the lives of others. Right now a critical blood shortage exists.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and the Fort Mill YMCA has graciously granted us permission to host 2 blood drives in honor of Wren and all the children in our community who have been recently diagnosed or are survivors of this terrible disease.

Since that day, there has been a tremendous outpouring of support for the Jansen family. The Hope for Wren #AllinForWren page is now 684 supporters strong and growing! You can make your donation in honor of Wren anywhere in the U.S. at your local Red Cross donation site. To begin, click on the Hope For Wren Campaign, pledge your support, register for a donation time, and leave a personal message for the Jansen Family.

Lets roll up our sleeves, restock the hospital shelves, and make a profound impact on the lives of others!
