It took 68 units of blood products to save my son, SSG Justin Lascek’s life on March 5, 2019, after a fateful accident that nearly cost his life. Justin is a Green Beret Special Forces Medic, who stepped on an IED during his second deployment in Afghanistan and lost both of his legs. Donors came forward that night after an emergency alert to donate blood that saved his life. After more than 20 surgeries, all that required more blood, he has made an amazingly quick recovery and left Walter Reed Hospital just 6 1/2 months after the blast.
