Delivering blood to hospitals for the Red Cross, I get a first hand look at how vital it is. The empty boxes are outnumbering the full ones. Every 2 seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood and/or platelets. Less than 38 percent of the population is eligible to give blood or platelets, but only about 3% of age-eligible people donate blood yearly.
In this season of giving, consider giving the gift of life. Or ring in the New Year with a new resolution: to save lives!
