On January 31st, 2023, Kelly summitted Kilimanjaro and developed a cough that lead to a life changing diagnosis. She was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma, a rare soft tissue cancer in her right chest. She spent the remainder of 2023 going through intensive chemo and 30 rounds of radiation to get rid of the cancer. Unfortunately on December 29th, Kelly found out that her cancer had metastasized to her brain. She has since received radiation to treat the brain tumors and is on her way to better health.

While getting treatment, Kelly needed multiple units of both blood and platelets, all of which saved her life. It is scary how critically low the blood and platelet storages are. In honor of National Blood Donor month, Kelly wanted to use her platform for good and encouraging everyone to donate blood and/or platelets.
