Go Team PJ

So many have been on this cancer journey with us since PJ’s diagnosis – and many have joined along the way. Through the treatment process PJ has now had to have 2 blood transfusions, and will likely need more as we proceed with chemo and immunotherapy treatments. While we hope only a few more transfusions will be needed, we have an even better understanding of the importance of donating if you can.

PJ’s dad and I are regular donors, Roger because his blood type is always in high demand, and me because I’m on the Baby Brigade for newborns (I lack a virus that most of us are born with – newborns cannot receive blood with this virus). We have learned so much over the years of donating, it is truly an honor. I owe my donating journey to a friend, Linda, who gives platelets on a regular basis.

In addition to doing this campaign to honor PJ, we would also like to honor PJ & Ruth’s friend, Rachel Sharman, who is battling this horrible disease as well.

One blood donation can help save up to three lives. That means a lot to patients in need, but it took on a new meaning for us recently. Without volunteer blood donors, our story might have had a different ending. Help us reach our goal and ensure that patients receive the life saving blood they need. Make and keep an appointment to give blood to the American Red Cross.
