Not able to give blood in person at the 2023 Church of the Brethren Annual Conference Blood Drive?
It’s ok – you can still join in the blood donation efforts by donating in your own area. We will note the number of in-person AND local donations in the Annual Conference Blood Drive totals.
All you need to do is:
– Pledge today to give blood by clicking on the red banner above. Or let Brethren Disaster Ministries (BDM) know of your intention (contact info below)
– Find a local blood drive (www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/find-drive or through your local blood services agency) and make an appointment to donate between June 1 and July 31, 2023.
– Let us know (through this portal or an email/phone call to BDM) that you followed through with your pledge. This is the only way we will know of, and be able to count, your donation.
– Take a photo, if you can, to encourage others.
It’s that easy!
By the way, did you know that . . .
• 1 pint of blood can save 3 lives!
• Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. It is essential for surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries.
• Approximately 29,000 units of red blood cells, and nearly 5,000 units of platelets and 6.500 units of plasma are needed every day in the U. S.
• Only about 3% of age-eligible people donate blood yearly.
