Each day, 40,000 units of blood are needed in hospitals nationwide. Here in Chicago, we have seen more and more of a need for blood donations. Sadly, the numbers are far from what is needed and blood is shipped in from other parts of the country. The summer months can be pressing on current levels, especially in these dog days of summer.

We here at Chive on Chicago believe we can make the world 10% better, through one act of kindness at a time. However, we must start here, in our own back yard to begin to make that change a reality. I am asking all of our members, their family and friends to join our virtual campaign and get out and be Bleedin’ for a Reason! You will be able to commit to donating blood and visit a local Red Cross Center in your own community and donate to honor our campaign. From there, everyone’s donation will be recorded and tallied after the months end.

We don’t have a set figure, but we want to make the optimal impact and do our part for our community so we set the goal of 200 units. The cool thing about this campaign, it lasts all month long in August! That means there’s no reason you can’t donate at least once! For those who like Bleedin’, well you can donate several times over the month!
