September 5, 2018 is our 36 wedding anniversary. In the Jewish religion multiples of 18 are special because when counting, the number 18 means ” life.” This Year we were to renew our vows because of the number. Sadly, Ken passed away on July 29, six weeks shy of our anniversary. He was a longtime blood donor and member of the disaster relief team. In the last weeks of his life, he was also a recipient of donated blood and platelets. What better way to honor this man’s legacy of giving and life than by donating blood on this special anniversary.
I’m asking our friends and family to make an appointment and donate whole blood or platelets to the American Red Cross through Ken’s Virtual Blood Drive honoring his lifetime of giving. He was a long time donor and while in the hospital he was the recipient of both blood and platelets.
The Ken Roos campaign runs from Sept 1 to Sept 10th and you can donate at a convenient location; Manchester Donor Center or a mobile blood drive. It’s easy to sign-up for an appointment that’s convenient for you. Here are the steps:
1. Click on the “Pledge to Give Blood” link.
2. Fill in the information and input a zip code that is convenient for you. The Manchester, NH Donor Center, zip code is 03104
3. If you currently do not have the Red Cross Blood App, go to your App Store and download the app to your phone and create an account so you can follow your blood donation to its final location.
On Wednesday, September 5th at the Manchester donor center there will be a special celebration of Ken’s life of giving. If you want to schedule a platelet, plasma, whole blood or power red appointment for that day, please schedule your appointment soon as the day will fill up fast. We look forward to seeing family and friends on the 5th.
Every donation can help save up to three lives.
Go SleevesUp and help us reach our goal. Please donate to our campaign!
