Our 17-year-old nephew, Braylon, was burning brush when the flames unexpectedly reached a fuel can and caused an explosion in his hands. In an instant, Braylon suffered severe burns to his body. Both of his arms, his chest, neck, and torso sustained third-degree burns, while his face, legs, and back have second-degree burns. Doctors are hopeful that his face will heal and that his hair will grow back, but the road ahead is long and incredibly difficult.
Braylon was airlifted from Paintsville, Kentucky, to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, where he is now receiving specialized care in the burn unit. He is expected to remain there for at least six weeks, undergoing intensive treatment, surgeries, and rehabilitation.
This blood drive is being held in honor of Braylon to help replenish the blood supply after he has already received approximately 10–12 units during his treatments. With more surgeries ahead and the possibility of needing additional transfusions, the need for blood is ongoing.
By donating, you are not only supporting Braylon’s journey but also helping ensure that lifesaving blood is available for him and for others who may face similar emergencies. Every unit donated makes a difference and is a powerful way to stand with Braylon as he continues to endure and overcome.
Thank you for standing with Braylon and our family during the hardest moment of our lives. Your kindness, generosity, and support will never be forgotten.
