I wanted to take a moment to share with you why I’m so passionate about organizing this virtual blood drive. The inspiration comes from a deeply personal experience with my cousin, a Purple Heart recipient who served in the Army. During his deployment, his HUMVEE was struck by a landmine, causing a devastating explosion. My cousin lost his leg in the blast and needed multiple blood transfusions to survive.

I can’t help but think about how different things could have been without the generosity of strangers who donated their blood. Without those donations, my cousin wouldn’t be here today, and many other soldiers and civilians who’ve needed blood wouldn’t have had the chance to recover. His story is a reminder of how crucial it is to donate and how something as simple as giving blood can save a life.

This is why we’re hosting this blood drive: to give back, to honor those who have sacrificed, and to ensure that others have the same chance at life that my cousin had. Whether you’ve donated blood before or this will be your first time, your contribution could help save a life just like it did for him.
