Most of us have heard of donating blood, but how many people really understand the importance? Oftentimes it’s not until a family member or someone close to us is in need of life-saving blood that we understand how critical blood donations are. Having a family member diagnosed with a blood disorder, I learned first-hand how important blood donations are for saving lives. My community service initiative, Banking on Heroes, was created to help educate others on the importance of donating blood to help save lives throughout our communities and state.
