The nation’s blood supply has been impacted significantly by the recent natural disasters and ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. There is a constant need for regular blood supply because blood can be stored for only a limited time before use. This is alarming considering blood is needed every two seconds in the United States and about one in every seven individuals entering a hospital needs blood. A decision to donate your blood can save a life, or even several if your blood is separated into its components — red cells, platelets and plasma — which can be used individually for patients with specific conditions.

Through our global JOIN initiative, Teleflex employees have been invited to come together to give back to local communities and improve the health and quality of people’s lives. The Clinical & Medical Affairs Team selected this community engagement effort as part of our commitment to Health Equity. We recognize that some people do not have access to primary health care, and the Red Cross and its partners bring lifesaving health interventions directly into communities. CMA has organized a “Sleeves-Up” Virtual Blood Drive in partnership with the American Red Cross.
