On December 9th I thought I had food poisoning from a fast-food burger. On December 10th I was receiving life-saving surgery because my pregnancy (6 weeks along) was ectopic and had ruptured. I had already lost 2 1/2 liters of blood; the emergency surgery involved an incision in my lower abdomen, removal of my left fallopian tube, and 6 blood transfusions. Losing half of my blood meant that those transfusions, along with the surgery, saved my life.
