Thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes this year! I have a blood donation appointment coming up, and I have decided to “donate” my birthday by also hosting a SleevesUp virtual blood drive.
After years of being ineligible to donate, I have made blood donation an important part of my life in the last two years, and I am asking my friends and family to pledge to give blood in the month of September in honor of my birthday. Whether you have thought about donating in the past but never made it, or you used to donate but haven’t been recently, or maybe you’ve never even thought about it, I encourage you to give this life-saving gift. There is a constant need for blood products, particularly during this pandemic when blood drives are less frequent. As an incentive, the American Red Cross is currently offering free COVID-19 antibody testing to all donors. You can give at a locally hosted blood drive or at a permanent Red Cross blood donation center (for those who are local, I donate at the center on Brambleton Ave which has weekend hours).
