As I type this today, I’m only thinking about the blood running through my veins because a dear friend NEEDS it to survive. Our friend Loan is very ill and is presently awaiting a blood transfusion that we don’t know if and when she’ll receive. Donating blood is free and yet there is a national shortage leaving people like Loan and others, just waiting. They are waiting for something we all possess and can afford to give. For every donation we contribute, three potential lives are saved. While it cannot be guaranteed that Loan receives our blood, we can rest assured our donations will reach others who are in similar situations. In a time where we are discouraged from physical closeness, this is what we can do to support one another in need. This is how we ban together. This is what we can do to spread love and LIFE in some of the darkest of times.
I’m not asking, I’m begging you to donate blood in Loan’s honor. You can donate whole blood, platelets or plasma. You can do it on a lunch break. You can do it on a weekend. Just do it. Do it for Loan. Do it for your sister. Do it for someone you don’t know. Do it because you are able and because people like Loan would do it for you. Loan is strong. She is kind. She is generous. This is the least we can do to honor her.
Let love circulate. Let Loan be loved via your rolling up your sleeves and donating blood through this virtual blood drive. It’s easy to find an appointment that’s near to you and remember – every donation can help save up to three lives. If you cannot donate blood, I ask that you just share this campaign in hopes someone it reaches may be compelled to donate. We can all be life savers.
If Loan has fed you a meal in your lifetime (likely she has!), pay her back by donating blood.
We love you, Loan! <3
