Why We Campaign
Our sisters are thrilled to be taking part in such an amazing campaign with the Red Cross, and we love to see the impact our service can have on others. During these difficult times, our sisters turn towards one another for support, and want to offer the same to our communities. Encouraging others to donate blood is essential and contributes to the life-saving mission of Alpha Phi. Last year on campus, the Beta Iota chapter of Alpha Phi hosted our Red Dress Gala event, which raised over $10,000 for the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute and the Alpha Phi Foundation. Funds and supplies were also donated to the local Milan Puskar Health Right, a free clinic for those in need, via our Mac n’ Phis event. In addition to campaigning and raising awareness for blood drives, Alpha Phi focuses its philanthropic efforts primarily on cardiac health, with a goal of advancing women’s heart health. According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the leading cause of death among women.
