Shawn McMullen, a US Army scout and organ donor, cared a great deal about helping others. When he passed away suddenly in 2015, 13 WHAM-TV Meteorologist Scott Hetsko was the recipient of Shawn’s final act of kindness—his donated heart. In partnership with Shawn’s Heroes for Life, please join us for a day to honor Shawn’s memory, celebrate Scott and give hope to patients in need by donating blood with the Red Cross and enrolling in the New York Organ Donation Registry with Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network.
“It’s my duty to honor Shawn’s heart and to spread that message that organ donation saves lives,” Hetsko said.
The two blood drives honoring Shawn collected 151 Units. It shows what can be accomplished when family, friends and the community come together.
