Jerick continues to have a chance at recovery because of the blood products that he has received while in the hospital. Every 30 seconds someone in the U.S. needs platelets, which included Jerick. On average, platelets are transfused within 3 days of donation, which was an amazing fact for me to learn. Some stranger took time out of their day to donate platelets and shortly after they were given to Jerick… it is hard to articulate the love and warmth I feel towards that kindness.
Many of you have asked how you can help, so I’m asking for our friends and family to make an appointment and give blood to the American Red Cross through a Virtual Blood Drive. It’s easy to find an appointment that’s near to you and every donation can help save up to three lives. The impact we can make together is the best way I can think for us to “pay it forward” on behalf of Jerick.
