The Howard University College of Medicine Anemia Awareness Group is dedicated to spreading awareness about all types of anemia. HUCM has a special connection with Sickle Cell Disease, being the home of the first clinic dedicated to SCD treatment. With September being Sickle Cell Awareness Month, we understand how important it is for black and brown people to donate blood, especially for patients requiring transfusions as regular treatment for their diagnosis. This all being said, our SleevesUp campaign is being carried out with the goal of having as many students and community members pledge to give blood as possible. Every pledge counts, and each person makes an impact on the caliber of change we can make!
