This year for the NWS Week of Service we will be hosting a Virtual Blood Drive through the American Red Cross. Make a blood donation any time before November 30th to participate. Every day, blood donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer. In fact, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood.
During the month of July, the nation’s blood supply fell by 25%. This was due in part to heat waves impacting blood drives along with volunteers busy with vacations and other activities. Meanwhile the demand for life saving blood products has remained constant. Let’s help restore the blood supply and be leaders in our community! Family and friends are encouraged to participate.
