September is National Sickle Cell Awareness Month! We need your help to direct attention to the need for research and treatment for sickle cell disease. Sickle cell disease is a genetic blood disorder that affects red blood cells. Sickle cell disease is the most common inherited blood disorder in the U.S. It affects approximately 100,000 Americans and more than 20 million people worldwide.
To learn more about sickle cell disease, check out the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) toolkit for resources and information: https://go.usa.gov/xFAdw.
During the months of September and October, we will partner with the American Red Cross to host a virtual blood drive for all Massachusetts State Lottery Commission Regional Offices. As members of our extended community, we would like to invite you to participate in our virtual blood drive with us. We are encouraging all who can donate to participate in our virtual blood drive.
Thank you for participating in our virtual blood drive! We appreciate you!
